In honor of Sunmor Estates being a part of the prestigious Modernism Week in Palm Springs this year, we created a bicycle tour to show you around. This midcentury modern neighborhood was built in the late 1950s, and has been carefully renovated over the last few years.
Sands Reality built about 9 homes, according the the Desert Sun, which were designed by Wexler or Harrison. The Alexander Construction Company completed the neighborhood. William Krisel designed the floorplans (including of the Easmor Alexander), and Richard Leitch, who was a fellow USC graduate with Krisel, designed the exteriors.
If you get a chance to tour, you’ll see that many of the Alexander floorplans are the same, but the rooflines and exteriors are very different!
Sunmor was named due to the extra sun it receives, compared to neighborhoods closer to the base of San Jacinto Mountain, where the sun “sets” earlier in the day.
The last house in the video is the Easmor Alexander.
Enjoy this bicycle tour of Sunmor Estates, and hope you get to visit in person soon! Book your vacation in Palm Springs today.
